# How do I track orders without buying an ERP?

An ERP is a very large, very expensive way to answer a fairly simple question, which is where is that order and what is holding it up. PaprPlain answers it out of the file you already keep. Every order knows which customer it belongs to and what has been paid against it, it moves through the stages your business actually uses — enquiry, confirmed, packed, dispatched — and it cannot skip one or quietly reopen after it was cancelled. Your team works down a board on their phone, moving an order to its next stage from the card itself — and that move really does update the order, with every stage rule still applied. Meanwhile your outstanding adds itself up instead of being rebuilt by hand every Monday.

## A board, not a spreadsheet

Columns for each stage, a card for each order. Move a card and the order has moved. Invoices can be raised here too — numbered, printable and shareable — with what is still owed on each worked out as payments come in. Your books, tax returns and e-invoicing stay in your accounting software.
